Kiwano...
No, that is not a Korean word! It is a fruit, a melon, from New Zealand. We bought it at the commissary, and we tried it tonight. We actually looked up about it before we cut it, so we were prepared. They told us how to cut it and how to eat it. It has seeds which are individually wrapped in this green jelly. You take the jelly and pop the seed out, spit out the seed and eat the jelly stuff. It is crazy! They said you could eat it out of the actual melon or you could empty it into a bowl, so we did the bowl. It had a mild sweet taste. Pretty yummy, but we got a little bored with it. I wonder if New Zealand has any recipes for how they use it...interesting...:-)
